Our south facing residential system in Southeastern PA with 24 CSI CS3W-450MB-AG bifacial panels and IQ8plus-72-2-US inverters was just switched on last week. 10 panels are on a second story roof and 14 panels form a first floor roof over a deck. It was originally going to be QCells bifacial panels, then Trina, then something else, but finally landed on CSI because of stocking and availability issues. IQ7+ inverters were going to be used but they were also out of stock which forced the upgrade to IQ8+. I had asked if these were sized appropriately, and our installer assured me they were.
Anyway, the Enlighten app shows the system output clipping at 7.2kW, which happens to be the peak 300W inverter output x 24 panels, so there is still some production being left on the table. Here’s a screenshot of the production today, which came in at 62.1kWh total. Today was also pretty hot in the mid 90s. The temp sensor above a door but below the panels on the deck peaked at 105F.
Are the IQ8+ inverters appropriate for this system or should they have specified the IQ8M/A?
