What is Community Solar?

Community Solar is a policy that allows solar electricity generated at a large central site to be sold to subscribers within the same utility and load zone (for example ConEdison in New York City).

I feel like you are going to plug something, but I am interested, so I’ll bite.

Tell us more. If you live in an apartment in a city, how do you “go solar”? Can you invest in the actual solar farm, or do you just tick something with your utility which says you are using solar power, when really you’re just receiving a mix of electricity generated from anywhere, but you get the privilege of paying more to feel like you are being sustainable?
