Hi Martin, i always wondered if the inverter would stop producing AC for residential consumption
whenever an unplanned electrical outage occurs for example ‘Blackouts’ etc?

Hi @Kaiman75
Actually, all grid tie inverters used to be designed to shut down in the case of an outage. This is so that there is no electricity being exported into the grid, which could be quite dangerous if wires are being worked on.
However, there are now a number of inverters I believe with zero export controls, which allows the inverters to stay on and not export. I’m not too sure about which inverters have this or not, I still think it’s quite niche, and largely just hybrid inverters that have it. Someone else might be able to add more details.
Cheers
