It has been four years in the making, and now we have launched Photonik 1.0.
There is a free version for homeowners and DIY solar ā Photonik Lite ā and a version for solar professionals ā Photonik Pro.
The easiest to use solar design tool
Our goal has always been to make the easiest to use solar design tools, and I think we have accomplished that. Homeowners are able to get a custom solar price in a few clicks - but can also dive as deep as they like into system sizing, panel placement, battery options etc - and solar professionals can create professional proposals in minutes.
EV charging, Vehicle to Grid (V2G) and Virtual Power Plants (VPP)
What I've been excited about recently is where the future of energy is going ā how the next phase of solar, batteries and also EVs will integrate with the electricity network to balance our inherently irregular supply and demand cycles.
We've built this simulation into Photonik now as well. Homeowners can now see how much they could save by exporting energy from their EVs onto the grid when there is a wholesale price spike, or what you could save by joining a VPP scheme - exporting to the grid from your home battery and taking advantage of wholesale rates.
If you haven't tried it yet, have a go ā Photonik Lite if you are a homeowner or DIY, Photonik Pro if you are designing for clients ā and let me know what you think. I would love the feedback, good or bad.
