For a 10kW system with mid range products, which I think that is what you’ve been quoted, this is what our solar calculator estimates you might pay. That’s just a rough estimate, and 2 story roof does cost more for eg. You may not be able to get a better deal because of the particular circumstances at your property, but I reckon it worth getting another quote.
In terms of the size, what are you weighing up? You can use the Solar Calculator to enter your consumption, and that will help you work out what size is best in terms of cutting your bill, fastest payback etc.

Moved into a new house, so not clear on cost yet. Previous bills in 2 bed apartment have been between 350-500, so I guess we use a bit more than average. New house is 5 bed, 2 story and approx 250m2 of living area. We have a pool pump, ducted aircon and will be getting induction cooktop.
Hi Ben, Based on what you said you are looking for, I’d stay well clear of that. Sungrow are about as cheap an inverter as you can get and Powerwave according to my last check, don’t make the Tier 1 list. SMA, Fronius and SolarEdge are commonly recognized as the best inverters. I like SolarEdge because they are optimised which gives performance advantages and they have the longest warranty. SolarQuotes have a lot good info on their web
FYI:Tier 1 is marketing spin, Tier-1 has NOTHING to do with the Quality of ANY Solar Panels, in fact it is a Banking term used to categorise the financial position of the Company !

I am somewhat disappointed with the size of the Rooftop Solar Arrays being installed in Australia.
Especially with the Bureaucrats saying Solar Owners may be Charged for Exporting energy during the Peak periods!
Theirs LOT better avenue to eliminate a $400 Power bill, that’s around 13~15kWh Consumption per Day.
If you can did a foundation hole in a clear area, a 4x 440W panel Dual Axis-solar Tracker will Generate 17kWh Energy per Day peak, total Kit cost inc. panels is $5k, then purchase 20kWh Energy Storage for $9k =Total $14k.
Not for everyone, but with that System you become Instantly Totally Power Independent for the next 30+ years minimum, excluding equipment failures.
